Four state-of-the art technology cores support teaching and research activities at DTU Bioengineering. In addition, the cores offer collaborative and scientific services to other DTU departments, other Danish universities and private companies. Each core is managed by a scientist supported by technical staff.
Technically, the cores offer analytical capabilities that span qualitative and quantitative analyses of a variety of biomolecules including nucleic acids for genomic and transcriptional studies (DMAC); Small molecules including primary/secondary metabolites, lipids, carbohydrates, and other bio-active compounds (Metabolomics Core); Proteins and their post-translational modifications in either pure form or in complex biological mixtures (Proteomics Core). Moreover, cell growth under controlled conditions and with powerful analytical tools such as off-line gas analyses and isotope labelling for studies involving cell metabolism and physiology, especially in the context of cell factory development are provided by the Fermentation Core.
