Research Centers

Research at DTU Bioengineering is organized into five research sections and four research centers, each dedicated to a specific area within life science and bioengineering. Together, these units bring faculty, research groups, and technological cores into a collaborative research environment.

Center for Microbial Secondary Metabolites (CeMiSt)

The Center for Microbial Secondary Metabolites (CeMiSt) is a DNRF Center of Excellence conceived to unravel the roles and impact of microbial secondary metabolites in natural microbial systems through a true multidisciplinary endeavour using microbiology, genetics, ecology, and chemistry.

The Centre for Translational Protein Design (CTPD) brings together DTU’s world-class expertise in de novo protein design, AI-guided engineering, display technologies, and high-throughput functional screening. By uniting these strengths, the Centre advances research and education that will position protein design as a cornerstone of Denmark’s future sustainable bioeconomy.

The Initiative for Biofertilizer Innovation and Science (IBIS)

The Initiative for Biofertilizer Innovation and Science (IBIS) will develop the missing technologies and foundational knowledge to enable scientists globally to identify, scale, and launch effective biofertilizer solutions tailored to local agricultural practices, economic frameworks, and production setups.
