The Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (DTU Bioengineering), is looking for an experienced, skilled, and enthusiastic laboratory technician for employment in the Section for Protein Science and Biotherapeutics (PSBT).

Primary responsibilities
You will support the technician team of the section, but you will be primarily involved in projects within the research groups A) Protease Network Degradomics (http://tiny.cc/uadk), B) Tropical Pharmacology (http://tropicalpharmacology.com), and C) Ubiquitin Signaling and Inflammation (http://tiny.cc/damgaard). These research groups apply a broad range of biochemical, molecular biological, and cell biological methods to study diseases mediated by protease functions and signaling, discovery of toxin-targeting antibodies, and protein modifications involved in controlling immune cell activity and cancer development, respectively. You will, among other tasks, be responsible for screening and characterization of antibodies, as well as plasmid purification and protein expression.

You will work in a highly international environment, and in collaboration with other employees be able to pursue novel workflows and methods in an ever-developing field. You will be involved in a wide range of projects and be part of cutting-edge research fields.

In addition to research project responsibilities, you will be part of a technician team of five, responsible for handling key infrastructure like general maintenance of laboratories, safety, procurement, and instruction of students and young researchers.

Our expectations of you
We see our ideal candidate as a generalist, who has experience with the following essential technical skills for method development:

  • Assay technologies (e.g. ELISA)
  • Protein characterization such as SDS-PAGE, enzyme kinetic assays, chromatography.
  • Mammalian cell culture

In addition, the ideal candidate is motivated by being in a dynamic research environment with many new and changing projects, which requires adaptability and flexibility, but which also offers great opportunities to learn new techniques and develop professionally. Experience with any of the following techniques is desirable, but not essential:

  • Western blotting / immunoblotting
  • Phage display
  • Molecular cloning
  • PCR-based techniques
  • Protein purification (HPLC, SEC, AIX, CIX, affinity chromatography)
  • Proteomics and mass spectrometry techniques

You are a trained laboratory technician, flexible with a positive approach to a dynamic and ever changing research environment. You have the knowledge and experience with work and safety in a laboratory environment with many international employees.

Salary and terms of employment
Salary and employment conditions is based on the OAO-S joint agreement and association agreement for office workers, laboratory technicians and IT staff (HK/Stat) signed with the Danish Ministry of Finance.

The position is full time, but a part-time employment can be negotiated. Start date: 15 September 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
