The section for Microbial and Chemical Ecology at the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine has a temporary position open for a postdoctoral researcher.

The successful applicant will work in the Antimicrobial Agents group headed by Associate Professor Anders Folkesson.

Responsibilities and tasks
The position concerns research related to evolution of antibiotic resistance in pathogens. It is crucial to elucidate how microbes interact and respond to the challenge of antimicrobial therapy in order to limit the evolution of antimicrobial resistance. This knowledge is urgently needed for developing novel therapies for multiresistant pathogens.

The focus of the candidate will be to explore the effect of various mutations which we have shown to be important for achieving high levels of resistance toward antimicrobial peptides. The role of the candidate will primarily be to perform experiments in the laboratory and conduct the following data analysis which should ultimately result in scientific publications. Additionally the candidate is expected to be supervising students and take part in teaching activities.

The applicant must hold a PhD degree or equivalent in a life sciences discipline, have excellent communications skills in Danish and English, and have hands-on experience in molecular microbiology, resistance evolution, lipid characterisation and/or chemical analysis such as MALDI-TOF-MS. Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The position is for 1 year. 

The positions will be located at the DTU Lyngby campus.
